We also look at the current state of IT, which is in transition and probably will be for the next five years. Moving into the cloud is the disruption that drives this transition.

Our guest on the podcast this week is Ian Moyse, cloud influencer and Non Executive Board Member at Federation Against Software Theft (FAST). We discuss cloud adoption over the years and how large legacy enterprises need to be agile to track where the industry is heading and keep up with disruptors. We look at VMware’s recent downsizing and stagnant revenue, and also at Microsoft’s strategy to refocus on cloud and make significant changes to keep up with the market. We also look at the changing rules and regulations between the EU and the US regarding the cloud.

We look at new guidelines, such as Safe Harbor, that tries to bridge the gap between widely varied data protection laws in different countries. We also discuss Microsoft’s latest news that they are researching ways to create underwater data centers with Project Natick.

Our guest on the podcast this week is Joel Davne, Founder and CEO at Cloudnexa. We discuss cloud pricing strategies including Microsoft Azure’s recent price cut for large enterprises. It seems cloud providers are reducing prices on older technology to make way for newer products. We also look at the latest AWS announcement that they will be offering options to get up to a 10% discount for reserving capacity in advance and on a recurring basis.
